Quality Start - Riverside County

The goal of this initiative is to help children thrive by increasing the number of high-quality early learning settings, including supporting and engaging families in the early learning process through a countywide quality rating and improvement system (QRIS). First 5 Riverside Hybrid Alternative Payment Program

First 5 Riversidefunds the Riverside County Office of Education to provide early learning scholarships for low-income children in quality rated licensed centers and family child care homes throughout Riverside County.

Jumpstart to Quality

First 5 Riverside funds the Consortium for Early Learning Services to provide licensed QRIS facilities with developmentally appropriate materials to support early learning for children and enhance program quality.

Quality Child Care/ Early Education for Children with Special Needs

First 5 Riverside funds Bermuda Dunes Learning Center, Perris Elementary School District and V.I.P. TOTS to provide quality early care or preschool for children 0 through age 5 with special health, developmental or social emotional needs. In addition, Blindness Support Services was recently funded to provide early education home visits for Riverside, Moreno Valley and Corona area kids who are blind or visually impaired.

Comprehensive Early Care Services & Supports to Families

First 5 Riverside funds Martha's Village and Kitchen and Path of Life Ministries to provide high quality early care and education and comprehensive wrap around services for children living in shelters for the homeless, including displacement due to domestic violence; grandparents raising grandchildren; pregnant and parenting teenagers; and families living in crisis. In addition, the Commission funds the Riverside County Office on Aging-Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program to provide services for that specific population.
