What are Home Visiting Services?
Home visiting pairs early childhood professionals with families to provide in-home developmental guidance, coaching, and referrals to other health and social services, strengthening the parent-child relationships and increasing overall child and family wellbeing. These services can also include material support in providing essential items such as diapers, baby wipes, and books.
F5RC invests in a number of home visiting services to provides families with essential support. Those receiving CalWORKS benefits with children prenatal through up to age 2 are eligible to receive home visiting services at no cost. Additional programs are available to families at no cost based on program eligibility.

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)

Provides learning activities for children ages 3 to 5 in preparation for kindergarten. HIPPY - Little Learners is for children aged 2. Parents partner with home-based educators to learn age-appropriate activities. Provided by the Jurupa Unified School District. All families with children ages 0-5 receiving CalWORKS benefits are eligible. Eligibility: A child must enroll in HIPPY - Little Learners by their second birthday to receive services. Children between 3-5 years old can enroll in regular HIPPY. Services run for 30 weeks. HIPPY is limited to one child per family.

Parents as Teachers (PAT)

The Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a home program for families with children 0-2 years old. The PAT vision is that all children will learn, grow, and develop to reach their full potential and that parents and caregivers are their earliest and best teachers. Also provides child screening for detection of developmental delays Provided by the Jurupa Unified School District.
Eligibility: A child must enroll in PAT by their second birthday to receive services, which run between one-two years. PAT is limited to one child per family.

Nurse Family Partnership

An in-home parenting program for first time, low-income pregnant mothers. Nurses work with pregnant mothers from the second trimester up through their child’s second birthday. Support includes training in parenting skills, building a strong network of support for the family and baby, providing referrals for healthcare, child care, and job training, help with setting goals and in improving economic sustainability. Provided by Riverside University Health Systems - Public Health.
Eligibility: New moms must enroll in NFP by the 28th week of pregnancy to receive services, which last until the child's second birthday.

Healthy Families America

Weekly in-home sessions with a Family Support Specialist focusing on parent-infant/child interaction, child development, health and school readiness and ensuring a safe home environment. A program for pregnant and/or first-time mothers provided by the JFK Memorial Foundation.
Eligibility: Families must enroll in HFA during pregnancy or by the time their child turns 3 months old to receive services, which last until the child is 3-5 years old.

Blindness Support Services

For families with children, aged 0 through 5, who are blind, visually impaired, or have other sensory disabilities. Uses the “Tactile Approach to Learning” program which focuses on teaching by touch. Program staff give instruction on home safety. Hazards that are often overlooked are addressed to ensure daily living environments are a safe learning place for young explorers. Modified PAT program. Focuses on school readiness for children 16 months to 2 years of age and building positive child-parent interaction with twice-weekly visits during the school year. Includes building parent-child verbal and non-verbal interactions, development of pre-literacy skills, and positive parenting skills and engagement. Provided by the Jurupa Unified School District.
