Much of the work of First 5 Riverside County is accomplished through the collective work of our funded partners. The programs listed in this section are currently receiving funding and/or support to implement activities that support children, ages 0 through 5, and their families in Riverside County. If you wish to enroll your child or learn more information, please contact the program directly. They will work with you to get you connected to services that best meet your needs.

Blindness Support

HOME VISITING
For families with children, aged 0 through 5, who are blind, visually impaired, or have other sensory disabilities. Uses the “Tactile Approach to Learning” program which focuses on teaching by touch. Instruction on home safety to ensure daily living environments are safe and overlooked hazards are addressed. Provided by Blindness Support Services, Inc.

FIRST 5 INITIATIVE
First 5 Riverside County funds early learning scholarships for low-income children to attend quality rated licensed child care centers and family child care homes. Families must meet program eligibility criteria.

HealthySteps – Murrieta

RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Pediatric primary care program which includes a Specialist that connects and guides families during and between well-child visits. Specialists are trained to provide families with parenting guidance, support between visit, referrals and care coordination, all specific to their needs. Participating partner agencies will provide Specialist assistance to families with children ages 0 through 3.

HeRCARe: High-Risk Care Access and Resources

RUHS MEDICAL CENTER
HeRCARe's Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) doctors are for all mothers in Riverside County facing a high-risk pregnancy. Services provided include: total prenatal care, high-resolution ultrasound and 3D, genetic counseling and testing, nutrition counseling, Sweet Success Diabetes education, behavioral health support, non-stress testing, and video visit with provider during ultrasound.

Healthy Families America (HFA)

HOME VISITING
Weekly in-home sessions with a Family Support Specialist focusing on parent-infant/child interaction, child development, health and school readiness and ensuring a safe home environment. A program for pregnant and/or first-time mothers. Provided by the JFK Memorial Foundation.

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)

HOME VISITING
Provides learning activities for children ages 3 to 5 in preparation for kindergarten. HIPPY - Little Learners is for children aged 2. Parents partner with home-based educators to learn age-appropriate activities. Provided by the Jurupa Unified School District.

Nurse-Family Partnership

HOME VISITING
Parenting program for first time, low-income pregnant mothers. Nurses work with pregnant mothers from the second trimester up through their child’s second birthday. Support includes training in parenting skills, building a strong network of support for the family and baby, providing referrals for healthcare, child care, and job training, help with setting goals and in improving economic sustainability. Provided by RUHS and Dr. Yoo, OB-GYN.

Raising A Reader

Program which promotes reading by providing preschool and kindergarten children with 3 to 4 different books each week to take home and read with their family. Quality Start Riverside County – Training Program

SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS
Supported by First 5 Riverside County, the Consortium for Early Learning Services coordinates and manages early learning trainings for teachers and administrators participating in Quality Start Riverside County. Local training opportunities support early childhood education teachers on a career path as an early care and education professional, increasing the quality of curriculum, teacher-child engagement and enhanced teaching practices in the early learning field.
